Direct and Sustainable Electrochemical Extraction of Lithium (e-DLE) for the Energy Transition.

LitiAR™ Sustainable e-DLE S.A. is the first Argentine company fully dedicated to the development of sustainable and disruptive electrochemical technologies for lithium recovery from untapped resources.

LitiAR™ has developed advanced sustainable systems for Direct Electrochemical Lithium Extraction (LitiAR™ e-DLE Process), a modular technology that can be adapted to existing extraction and processing systems.

In partnership with Laring SA, we have access to chemical laboratories, analytical services, and an advanced pilot plant.

Litiar™ Sustainable e-DLE S.A. is positioned as an Argentine advanced technology company focused on the continuous electrochemical extraction of Lithium, with a value proposition aligned with the most innovative trends in the Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) sector. Its strategic opportunity lies in combining locally developed technology, deep knowledge of South American brines, and next-generation electrochemical processes. The company aims to establish its market position and demonstrate, through pilot plants and subsequently commercial-scale operations, that it can achieve the same level of operational reliability and economic competitiveness as the most mature DLE technologies currently available in the market.

Disruptive technology e-DLE

e-DLE Technology

Advantages over current technologies:

  • Speed: Hours instead of months of evaporation, with low energy consumption.
  • Selectivity: Highly selective for Lithium ions.
  • Sustainability: Low water footprint. No chemicals or waste generation.
  • Scalability: Modular units and electrically controlled process.

The Sustainable Lithium Recovery Game

A bench-scale MVP (Minimum Viable Product) flow reactor has been designed and built to test the key aspects of the technology at the lowest possible cost. Its performance has been experimentally validated and complemented with numerical simulations of the complex processes involved—including Lithium intercalation, mass transport, interfacial reactions, and solid-state diffusion, among others—to investigate the spatial and temporal profiles of concentrations and electric potentials.

Using this MVP bench-scale flow reactor, we have identified key performance indicators (KPIs) for scale-up, with the objective of achieving continuous, large-scale industrial operation of the e-DLE (electrochemical Direct Lithium Extraction) process.
